Sotheby's Invitation

To invite Sotheby’s private clients to the auction of Freddie Mercury’s estate, the designers created an elegant box invitation, finished with a distinctive red and gold belly band. This design element nods to Mercury’s iconic recording career and his vibrant, eclectic taste in both art and fashion. The box’s luxurious construction captures the essence of his legendary personality, adding a sense of exclusivity to the event invitation.

The red and gold belly band encircling the invitation is a striking design element, echoing the regal costumes Freddie Mercury famously wore during his legendary performances. This vivid detail mirrors not only his flamboyant stage presence but also the timeless elegance of his aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from a music record award, the design integrates subtle references to Mercury’s celebrated career, seamlessly blending his artistic achievements with his vibrant personality.

The box itself is a testament to luxury, crafted with precision to evoke the grandeur of its subject. Its refined details and bold colours create a visual harmony that honours Mercury’s eclectic taste while exuding sophistication. Together, these elements transform the invitation into a keepsake, perfectly capturing the spirit of an extraordinary artist and the exclusivity of the event.
